When one thinks of Tuscany, it's hard to not take into account the many cultural attractions here, after all, Italy in its amazing beauty is a country where culture and history seem to have been born as a concept in itself. Cozy and beautiful seaside resorts
Yet another venue here on the Tuscan Coast are the numerous resorts, beautiful and cozy. Viareggio is a fine example, with its 10 km of sandy beaches that are ready to show you what life by the sea really feels like. A last minute holiday home on the Tuscan Coast will complete the scene, and can also set you near the resort of Forte dei Marmi, or Castiglione della Pescaia. In San Vincenzo and Lido di Camaiore there are many shopping opportunities and also many restaurants, where you can indulge in the Italian “dolce vita”. Water sports are very popular on the Tuscan Coast, watch out though! Unlike the Adriatic Coast, the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea presents itself with a deeper sea, thus be careful of how much you distance yourself from the shore, as you may find a deep end when you don't quite expect it. Sailing, surfing, kayaking and boating are not at all strangers to daily activities here, on a last minute holiday on the Tuscan Coast. The island of Elba and the Tuscan Archipelago are well worth a visit, and they make a great one day trip here, by boat.
Still, the culture...
As we mentioned, it's rather hard to ignore the culture in Tuscany overall, and to this you can also add the gastronomy, and there you go... you're all set for a last minute holiday on the Tuscan Coast. The wines, the fish, the olive oil, the fresh fruit and the pasta here make up for a culture on their own, and if you combine them with visiting local attractions as well and with spending time by the sea... you won't feel to far from paradise. Suvereto and Massa Marittimo with their city walls have beautiful centers and then there is of course, the leaning Tower of Pisa, the Ponte di Mezzo, the oldest bridge in Pisa. In the Tarrottuin in Garavicchio you will find some gardens with beautiful art, explore the religious art in Camaiore and Massarosa and enjoy every step you take in any direction on the Tuscan Coast. It is well worth it.
